Video Domain Technologies Ltd. introduces consumer video surveillance product based on Philips Semiconductors TriMedia processor.
Video Domain Technologies Ltd. today announced an innovative consumer video surveillance product based on Philips Semiconductors TriMedia™ processor and the TriMedia H.324 International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standard reference design. The company video surveillance product sets a new standard for video and audio quality for surveillance devices on standard phone lines, ISDN lines, GSM wireless transmissions and TCP/IP protocol data lines. The Video Domain video surveillance is a compact box that supports up to eight cameras and microphones and is designed to work with a customer's existing PC. Capable of supporting multiple video sources, alarm
inputs and relay outputs, the product transmits high quality live color pictures over the regular telephone or ISDN lines, Cellular communication and TCP/IP. The product is ideal for virtually any surveillance application where monitoring and alarm verification is needed on remote sites. In addition, the surveillance unit employs full-duplex audio. Video Domain also added extended communication services over dial-up and LAN networks.
The video surveillance will be demonstrated at the IFSEC 2000, Birmingham, UK, May 8 - 11 at the Video Domain booth number P62.

Philips Semiconductors TriMedia processor is based on breakthroughs in VLIW (Very Long Instruction Word) hardware and software technology. By processing up to five instructions with each clock cycle, a low-cost TriMedia processor can achieve the exceptional performance necessary for demanding multimedia applications. The TriMedia software compiler handles complex instruction scheduling, and allows a TriMedia processor to be programmed entirely in high-level languages. Video Domain product enables users to receive and make video calls by simply plugging the device in to a phone line, ISDN or Network hub. Video Domain signed a distribution agreement with prominent Security Monitoring companies in Europe to bundle the Video Domain system for their subscribers.
