Video Domain Technologies Ltd. introduces consumer video surveillance product based on Philips Semiconductors TriMedia processor.

Video Domain Technologies Ltd. today announced an innovative consumer video surveillance product based on Philips Semiconductors TriMedia™ processor and the TriMedia H.324 International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standard reference design. The company video surveillance product sets a new standard for video and audio quality for surveillance devices on standard phone lines, ISDN lines, GSM wireless transmissions and TCP/IP protocol data lines. Philips Semiconductors is an affiliate of Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG)and a leading provider of integrated circuits and ASICs used in communications and digital consumer applications..

The Video Domain video surveillance is a compact box that supports up to eight cameras and microphones and is designed to work with a customer's existing PC. Capable of supporting multiple video sources, alarm inputs and relay outputs, the product transmits high quality live color pictures over the regular telephone or ISDN lines, Cellular communication and TCP/IP. The product is ideal for virtually any surveillance application where monitoring and alarm verification is needed on remote sites. In addition, the surveillance unit employs full-duplex audio. Video Domain also added extended communication services over dial-up and LAN networks.

The video surveillance will be demonstrated at the IFSEC 2000, Birmingham, UK, May 8 - 11 at the Video Domain booth number P62.

"The powerful TriMedia processor makes the VideoDomain Video Surveillance and Recording possible. A single TriMedia processor supports all of the processing, including audio/video encoding and decoding, pre and post alarm recording, high quality snapshots, communications, user interface and system control," said Menachem Zibziner, Director and V.P. R&D of Video Domain Technologies Ltd. "We will focus heavily in R&D in the digital video surveillance and recording arena and TriMedia is an ideal programmable platform to continue building our core competency in the field of digital CCTV."

"The open architecture and ease of programming for Philips Semiconductors TriMedia processor enables our customers to incorporate enhanced features in their designs," said Simon Wegerif, general manager for Philips Semiconductors TriMedia Product Segment. "Video Domain has enhanced the TriMedia Reference Design and software to offer value-added features such as high-quality still frame picture transmission and one-way video for security and observation and full-duplex audio."
